Dentures and Partials

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Dentures look like real teeth! Two types of dentures are available — complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Both types can be made very quickly, and if you are having teeth removed, can be placed the same day as the extraction, to avoid any missed work or any social functions.

How Are Dentures Made?

The denture process takes about two to four weeks and can depend on the type of denture you choose. Once Dr Etue determines what type of appliance is best for you, the general steps are to:

  • Make an impressions of your jaw and take measurements of how your jaws relate to one another and how much space is between them.
  • Create models in the exact shape and position of the denture to be made. You will “try in” this model and the denture will be assessed for color, shape, and fit before the final denture is cast.
  • Cast a final denture in the local dental laboratory
  • Adjustments will be made as necessary

Can my Dentures be locked or bolted down?

YES!!!! Dr Etue has the ability to place dental implants, both conventional and mini implants to lock your new or existing dentures down for increased comfort and ability to chew. Please see our implant area and feel free to contact Dr Etue with any questions.
